Volunteering the heart beat of L&M

Why volunteer?

Our volunteers get to shop at the absolute earliest time. Volunteers also have the opportunity to have their consignor fee waived and even earn up to 75% (must meet all of the criteria for this to apply) of their consignor sales!  Volunteers enjoy the fellowship of a few hours out of the house with fellow moms, grandmas and even dads! A change of pace. New faces. New friends…

Please read this page in its entirety as there is new information and regulations we will be following. A link to volunteer is at the bottom of this page.

The Lullabies and Mudpies sale has several options for volunteers & a couple options to barter:

In order to have you $12 fee waived you must work a total of 12 hours (this can be at the sale and or bartered shifts)

We are adding a few 2 hour shifts this sale to help those moms who do not have an available 4 hours to devote at one time. The total number of hours must be worked in order to receive the benefits such as two 2 hours shifts must be worked to receive 4 hour volunteer benefits.

We have several bartering opportunities available. These shifts are especially great for stay at home moms or moms with young children.

Meal for 6 - you will provide one large meal for 6-8 to help feed all of our hard working volunteers. Although, we LOVE and appreciate homemade meals this can be very simple i.e. Frito pie and salad, chicken casserole, Lasagna, Spaghetti, Fried Chicken, Sandwich’s made with love and care, Chili, homemade soups are a hit, chicken salad, Ruth Chris steaks (just kidding) BBQ, Subway or Jersey Mikes, Roast with carrots and potatoes, any homemade veggies (collards, peas, beans, corn, squash, etc) also check our FB page feed for some suggestions made by our great FB fans, or take-out items are just as fine. We love fresh sandwich fixings for lunch. We're pretty easy (well some of us) we just don't have time to go get something ourselves.  NO PIZZA PLEASE, this is what we orderwhen we don't have meals! We have added a few shifts asking specifically for pizza or subs to feed out teen volunteers on busy nights. Providing a meal is worth 4 volunteer hours, repeat NO PIZZA PLEASE!!!!!!!

Lunch - generally 12:00 - 12:30
Dinner - generally 5:00 - 5:30

HOMEMADE DESSERTS (we love sweets, L&M is chocolate powered)-Examples:  Oreo truffles, homemade cookies, cakes, pies & treats 2 volunteer hours

Snacks - you will drop off snack and/or drinks during drop off days. There are also snack shifts for bringing fresh fruit on certain days as well as paper goods/office supplies. This is worth 2 volunteer hours.

Distribution - we have thousands of flyers the need to be distributed to day cares, churches for VBS, dance studios, mom groups, etc. Anywhere there are moms, dads and grandparents, we want to have fliers. This option will count for 4 volunteer hours. We have lots of opportunities for this option. After you sign up for this shift in a specific area we will contact you about specific locations. As long as the locations are available, you can distribute to those that are most convenient for you. Please do not sign up for an area and then request a change (such as signing up for Crestview but you want to distribute in Pensacola but it was full). This takes away a much needed position in one area and overloads us in another. We have the needed amount of openings available in each area. Some fill quickly so we suggest signing up asap for your preferred area!

Media Coverage- gets Lullabies and Mudpies in the media! If you can get us radio, tv or print coverage you'll earn volunteer hours. The number of hours will vary depending on the media coverage.  Email info@lullabiesandmudpies.com for additional info.

PLEASE READ AND REVIEW:

All workers can cancel or re-schedule their work shift(s) and avoid sales percentage penalties by canceling at least 1 day BEFORE their scheduled shift(s). It is each consignor's responsibility to contact us to cancel or re-schedule their work shift.

It is your responsibility to sign IN and OUT when you work.  This is your record to receive appropriate worker credit.

Strict volunteer policies must be enforced due to the abuse of work schedules in the past.Consignors who do not attend their scheduled work shift or reschedule for a different shift will be penalized 50% of their total sales. We are enforcing this policy strictly. No Exceptions. We understand that you need to take care of family first in circumstances that cannot be helped.  A death in the family and sickness are main reasons for missed work shifts, therefore we ask that you to take your situation into consideration and understand our policy before committing to a work shift(s). Consignors are responsible for getting a replacement or rescheduling work shifts with L&M to avoid penalties and or reduction of sales.

Answers to frequently asked VOLUNTEER QUESTIONS:

  • Do not worry if you haven't ever volunteered before, we will show you what to do when you arrive. Please try to arrive 10 minutes before your shift for a little training.
  • Volunteers mainly help with greeting & checking out customers, straightening clothes on the racks, and reorganizing items. It is really quite fun and our volunteers say that it helps them to appreciate how the sale runs.
  •  Consignors who are volunteering may pick up their presale pass at the check in table during consignor drop-off.
  • Please bring any food/drink (and a small cooler if desired) that you might need during your shift. We have a refrigerator and will provide water and small snacks but you will need to provide your own meals.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. We provide a cute L&M apron for you to wear during your shift.
  • The volunteer pre-sales are only for those volunteering! Husbands, mothers & friends must have their own pass to attend the presale (unless you've earned two passes!)
  •   Children are not allowed at the pre-sales for safety reasons.   Nursing infants may be worn in a carrier/wrap. Please, no strollers or car seat carriers will be admitted to the presale.  This will be enforced.

  • Consignors who volunteer for sorting and breakdown (shifts Saturday from 2:00 pm and later) may pick up their unsold items after their shift.
  • Volunteers will be shopping during presale times only. Drop off volunteers may get a sneak peek at the merchandise but cannot purchase or hold items.
  • No show volunteers will be prohibited from volunteering at the next sale. If you see you will not be able to make your shift or meet your commitment for a bartered shift please contact us. We do understand family emergencies and sickness, etc. Repeated no shows will result in being permanently prohibited from volunteering.
